Use your Gamecube controller on the Wii U!

Hey guys, Fencer6 here. Today we have some pretty big news for retro fans of the Nintendo series. Nintendo has announced they will be... drumroll please... 

The return of the GameCube controller! Originally the GameCube controller, obviously, worked with the GameCube. Then, when the Wii came out, they didn't want to anger fans and not allow them to play their previous collection of games on the new system as well as to be able to continually sell GameCube games to wii owners who wanted to by the Wii. It was kind of like a two-in-one deal. Buy the Wii and get a GameCube free. So they programmed the Wii to accept GameCube discs and installed a series of slots on the top of the system to allow for the GameCube controllers to plug into the system as well as a slot for GameCube memory cards. 

This allowed for all kind of awesome features. Not only could you play retro games on the new system, but you could also play certain new games on the new controller such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii. I loved these controls after playing games like Melee and Double Dash. They felt natural. I trained myself to play Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros with the GameCube controller, and I used this whenever I could. Not only that, but it also allowed people to play 'Virtual Console Games' from the N64 that could be downloaded straight from the online store and played with the GameCube controller. 

                                   

But of course, the Wii U ruined this great feature. You could no longer play those awesome Virtual Console games with a gamecube controller and instead had to buy the Wii U Pro Controller, which cost a whole $50, and if you wanted to play MK Wii or SSB Brawl you either had to shell out the bucks or learn to play with the skinny stick that was a Wii remote. It might be great for hitting golf balls or swinging a lightsaber, but it was pretty dang hard to play a racing or fighting game. 

So, as you could probably guess, fans weren't happy. And with the release of Super Smash Bros. Wii U just around the corner, people were even more disappointed. If you wanted to play Super Smash Bros. with a GameCube like controller with four people you would have to spend $200 on four sets of Wii U Pros. Thankfully, for the first time, they decided to do something right with the Wii U. available at the release of Super Smash Bros. Wii U this holiday season. 

                           

That's right! You can use your GameCube controllers on the Wii U! These awesome devices won't be available for purchase until winter, but thankfully the Super Smash Bros. Invitational @ E3 2014 will be using these adapters so that people won't have to learn to play SSB Wii U with the Gamepad/ wii remote. I am super excited about this news, and I can't wait to get one. It would be amazing that they could have some GameCube virtual console games on the Eshop because it would make total sense.

Super Smash Bros. Female Villager Confirmed and more!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't made as much Super Smash Bros. news as I'd like, but here I have a new chunk of news for you to see below!

Female Villager

Firstmost, and debatably the biggest news released in the past week or so was the Female Villager from animal crossing. We had already seen the male villager in action, which is usually the games main logo, but many people began wondering if a female version would be playable. Well,now it has been confirmed! Additionally, another form of both the female and male villager will be available, which would make since because that in animal crossing you can change around your look. The female villager will not be a different character, which is a bit of a disappointment, but instead another form, like wireframe mac. The question is, would these be considered a 'form' that you could select from, or the default you have to be if there is another villager out there. For example, when you played Brawl, if someone had already selected Kirby you had to go as a different colored Kirby, like yellow. So, if someone else has selected male villager red, does that mean you have to choose one of the females or the yellow villager? Or will there be 4 different colors of each of the variations of villagers? It seems doubtful. Either way, I know many Animal Crossing fans and female Super Smash Players are happy about the news. Play Super Smash Bros. at Best Buy!

Hey guys! So, as we all know, Nintendo will be releasing the new SSB (Super Smash Bros.) game for the 3DS this summer and for the Wii U this winter. But, Nintendo will be allowing people to demo the new game at E3 2014!
Now, don't get somber and exit out of the page just yet. As you may already know, E3 lets in people who are Video Game experts (famous YouTubers, developers, ect.) and above the age of 17. I know, it sucks for regular people like us, especially those who are below 18 years of age. BUT, Nintendo realized this and will be making up for it. At the same time as E3 is going in, Best Buys all over the country will be allowing customers to play one of the new Super Smash Bros. games. I have my fingers crossed for SSB Wii U, but something tells me it will be SSB 3DS since it will be released later this summer. The event will be going on June 10-12, 2014 at Best Buy's around the country, so I hope you go there it give the new games a try! I know I will!
